Healing From Acne Keloids – Caroline Mueni, 22 Yrs. Athi River – Kenya | Ep 35.

In which
area of life have you been most successful and comfortable to share with the
world about?
My journey on battling with acne.

What
inspired you to pursue this journey, and how did you overcome
initial challenges?
The journey was never easy. Growing up I was always given very mean
names related to the acne that I had. As the years went by little did I know
that I would experience the worst three years of my life. The normal adolescent
skin acne that I had progressed to the worst stage of acne. Keloids started
forming on my entire face. Oh my God I felt ugly, I couldn’t use a mirror for
the longest time. I hated taking pictures. The worst part was the mean comments
I got from people based on their assumptions, people always feel opinionated
you know. That got into me, my self-esteem went down, I lost my confidence and
I started being this girl who liked being indoors because at least it felt
peaceful and nobody would make bad comments about my face. To cut the long
story short, despite everything that I went through I had this strength inside
of me and so much hope and faith in God that one day, I would get my face back,
and doctors would find a solution to what I was suffering from. Right now as we
are speaking I underwent surgery and my confidence is back, I can now look at
that mirror that I was so scared of looking at and even admire my beauty and
last but not least I can also allow myself to take pictures.

Please
share a significant moment or decision that played a significant role in your
success?
Allowing myself to go through surgery and
choosing to trust in God and believe in the doctors. It was the toughest
decision I had to make because only I could make it not even my parents. I had
so many insecurities and so many thoughts were running through my mind. Doing
surgery on your face is very critical because that’s the first thing that
people see when they look at you.

How do you
navigate work-life balance and maintain your well-being amidst the success?
I love doing outdoor activities, meeting new
people and having meaningful conversations and going for therapy to keep my
mental health in check.

What advice
would you give to aspiring women on a similar journey or who dream of the same
kind of success?
TRUST
IN GOD AND DON’T GIVE UP. THERE IS ALWAYS A SOLUTION TO EVERYTHING!!!

In the face
of setbacks, how do you stay resilient and continue to thrive in your journey?
I always rely on my inner strength as an
individual, I also give myself positive affirmations and remind myself that I
am a go-getter and I don’t easily give up on things.
