What inspired you to pursue this journey, and how did you overcome initial challenges? I wanted to find out who I was.
Please share a significant moment or decision that played a significant role in your success? I was going through a difficult marriage and my self-esteem was so low but deep down I knew I deserved better and wanted to figure out how to get rid of the pain.
This led me to pursue a whole journey of learning why we do what we do and what factors are at play, what influences our behaviour and finally went back to school to learn human psychology and how the brain works.
The discovery made me want to help those around me not only through counselling but by teaching young brains (children and young adults) on how to build resilience to stress, to understand the brain and how it works, improve self regulation and positive psychology enabling them to face life and academic challenges through an organization dubbed Salama Kids.
How do you navigate work-life balance and maintain your well-being amidst the success? Self-care practices such as journaling, medication and mindfulness as well as fulfilling my thirst to serve humanity.
What advice would you give to aspiring women on a similar journey or who dream of the same kind of success? First, know who you are. Go on a journey of self-discovery. Being able to identify your strengths and weaknesses is a powerful skill that sets the stage for success in every area of your life.
In the face of setbacks, how do you stay resilient and continue to thrive in your journey? I embrace therapy and many other tools it comes with. Also keep focused on the “why”.
