Embracing Womanhood – Rachael Kalundi, 25 Yrs. Nairobi – Kenya | Ep 33.

In which
area of life have you been most successful and comfortable to share with the
world about?
Female-welfare (menstrual hygiene, womanhood and
reproductive health)

What
inspired you to pursue this journey, and how did you overcome
initial challenges?
My passion in seeing women excel. When we were starting up during the Covid
era, there were many cases of teenage pregnancies due to lack of mentorships
and inconveniences such as lack of sanitary towels especially from Kitui county
where I come from. We would mobilize resources, organize events and invite
young people for mentorship but our main role was to educate the girl child on
period health, period shaming and also provide them with sanitary towels to
enhance comfort and confidence.

Please
share a significant moment or decision that played a significant role in your
success?
Being brought up by my dad really pushed me to
doing this. Growing up, womanhood, menstrual hygiene and reproductive health
are some of the many conversations I didn’t get to have with my dad and I’ve
always wanted to provide an interactive environment to the girls out there. I
believe every girl is entitled to access to information despite their
circumstances in life.

How do you
navigate work-life balance and maintain your well-being amidst the success?
Learning the art of prioritization. Understanding that some things need
priority in life and calls for more attention is key. Since work can at times
be overwhelming, it’s really good to take care of your mental health to ensure
smooth running.

What advice
would you give to aspiring women on a similar journey or who dream of the same
kind of success?
Don’t give up on yourself. Every person is born
gifted differently and it’s bound to happen. There will be challenges, arise,
dust yourself, pick yourself up, you’re equal to the task. Don’t let your own
brain lie to you, you’re good enough!!

In the face
of setbacks, how do you stay resilient and continue to thrive in your journey?
My belief in God. My center of gravity is anchored on God. My past is
testimony enough as He has given me strength and resilience to continue
thriving. Also, being brought up by a dad instilled in me a certain feeling of
confidence as I watched him do his things and that has kept me going.
